Course Description: A one-semester course of three hours lecture, and three hours of laboratory work per week intended primarily for non-science major students. This course introduces not only fundamental concepts of chemistry in conveying an interesting relationship to everyday life but also relevant scientific information and skill competencies important in a liberal arts education. The topics of consumer chemistry will be selected from Unites and measurements, introduction to atomic structures and simple chemical reactions, fuels, energy, polymers, fertilizers, pesticides, food and food additives, household cleaners, cosmetics and personal care chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and air and water pollutions. This course meets the physical science general education requirement.
